New compatible cartridges available for Canon CLi-8 and HP 363

Wednesday, June 18th, 2008

When Canon introduced their CLi-8 and PGi-5 ink cartridges about four years ago, they used the very latest semiconductor technology to produce the print heads to enable the micro fine droplets that advanced printing demanded. They also used the very latest chip encryption technology to protect the chips on the cartridges. It has taken 4 years of research, but finally a compatible chip has been released into the market, and we have the final result in stock now. Fully chipped, compliant compatible Canon CLI-8 and PGI-5 cartridges are in stock and available at significant savings over the Canon originals. Market analysts predict that the chip manufacturers could sell 12 – 15 million chips in the first six months of release, which just goes to show the pent up demand for compatible ink cartridges.

We have had available the cartridges that you had to take the old chip off, we have had available (and still do) the Armor packs and ink cartridges, but the bottom line is that if you are looking for a simple low cost alternative the Canon original – we now have them available.

· We have put together a summer special offer – buy all five cartridges for only £29.99

· A massive saving of £21.96 over the full set of originals,

· Plus as another incentive there is 20% more ink in the compatible cartridges than the originals

· 100% compatible

· 100% guaranteed satisfaction

We will continue to stock the Canon original cartridges and also the Armor ink cartridges, for those customers who have invested in the Armor Packs, but expect that these compatible ink cartridges will become a huge seller over the next years.

Alongside these Canon cartridges we are now stocking HP remanufactured 363 cartridges. Whilst these have been giving fabulous results we have always been frustrated by the meagre amount of ink in the colour cartridges. No longer, our remanufactured cartridges are filled to the brim with up to 3 Times more ink than the HP originals. Again X-Print our suppliers have matched the ink to the printers and you should see little or no difference between the originals or remanufactured cartridges – except in your wallet!.

Save even more money and buy our multipack of all of the cartridges.

Canon Pixma IP2600 Review

Thursday, March 20th, 2008

If you are looking for a good quality low cost photo printer - then look no further.  This new offering from Canon the Pixma IP2600 fits the bill perfectly.  Online prices for the printer are around the £25 mark which is actually less than the cost of a couple of cartridges, but by utilising their proprietary FINE print system the output you will get is of a very high standard, photos are sharp and full of detail and the colours are reasonably accurate - lets face it for you get what you pay for, but I have to say this printer punches well above its weight in terms of the quality of the output.  You will always be limited by the fact that the printer takes single black and tri-colour cartridges, so you will not get the depth of colour that you would expect from a six ink tank printer, but if all you want to do is print off your holiday snaps this is the boy for the job.

Print speeds are not excessive, Canon claim 13.3PPM in mono, in reality you will get around 8PPM in draft mode and 7.4PPM in normal.  A 6 x 4 photo in best quality took us around 98 seconds, and an A4 photo montage was done and dusted in just over 3 minutes.

Connectivity - as you would expect is limited to a single USB port on the back of the machine.  The supplied Drivers support Windows and MAC-OS.

In summary, we rate this as an excellent addition to a home PC which is cheap to buy and will do a good job for you.  We really like the whole Canon Pixma range, but then I think I may have said that before!

Canon Pixma MX850 Review

Tuesday, March 18th, 2008

Another new Product from Canon is the MX850.  An addition to their Pixma range of all in one printers the Pixma MX850 is aimed squarely at the SOHO (Small Office Home Office) environment and offers the following features:

  1. Super G3 Fax
  2. 5 Single ink tanks
  3. 35 Page Duplex ADF (Automatic Document Feed)
  4. Ethernet Connectivity
  5. Print/Copy, Mono/Colour, up to 31PPM (Draft) 14.9PPM (Standard)
  6. Scan at 4800dpi
  7. Print Photos with 1pf, 9600 x 2400 dpi
  8. 6.2cm colour TFT display
  9. Quick Start
  10. Duplex print/Copy
  11. CD/DVD Print
  12. Pictbridge and Memory Card slots

Taking these features individually, the machine gives a small office all the functionality of three individual machines i.e. Fax/Copier/Printer all in one small(ish) footprint!.  Because all of the new Pixma machines now use Canon’s FINE ink technology, they give outstanding results and mean that you only replace an ink cartridge when that particular colour has run out - minimising running costs.  With the addition of the TFT Screen you can print photos directly without having your PC connected.  The fact that the printer has Ethernet connectivity as standard means that you can network it for two or more PC’s again maximising your IT investment.

I am continually preaching the benefits of Duplexing, and this machine, like all of the new Canon machines has Duplexing built in as standard.  This basically means that you are able to select to print on both sides of the paper - saving paper.  Another key feature of this machine is that you can scan in Duplex as well.  This feature is normally only available in top end machines.

The printer handles a range of media, up to A4 from a 150 sheet feeder tray and also prints directly onto CD/DVD.

As with all of the new Canon printers, print speeds are quoted in both Draft and Standard, which other manufacturers could copy (but haven’t yet!)

Market Leading All in One Printer from Canon

Canon Release new All in One (AIO) Printer

We really like the new Pixma range of printers from Canon and with the release of the brand new Canon Pixma MX7600 we think that they have introduced a real market leader.

Designed to enable Small Business’s to produce Professional Business documents on plain paper by utilising a new clear ink working in tandem with five Lucia pigment inks, when printing from the cassette onto plain paper. The clear ink initially covers the print surface which then enables the pigmented inks to bond with the paper. This process prevents curling, ink bleeding and printing through the paper sometimes associated with colour inkjet printing on plain paper and enables the user to produce documents that are sharp and professional on demand.

Offering print resolution up to 4800 x 1200 dpi and advertised print speeds of up to 28PPM (Max) in mono Draft – typical 11 PPM standard and up to 23 PPM mixed text and graphics (10 PPM standard), borderless printing and the ability to print directly from Memory Cards and Pict Bridge means that you will be able to print high quality photos from your office machine.

With a range of connection options from USB 2.0 through to full Ethernet 10/100 (auto switch) you can use this as a standalone printer or allow access to all of your network users. As with all of Canons new printers the MX7600 offers full automatic duplex printing, allowing users to print to both sides of paper thus allowing the reduction of paper used in the office.

The MX7600 is a Multi Function Machine and includes scanner, copier and also a fax and so offers the ability to become a true office workhorse, but with the option to become a thourobread race horse when the need arrives.

The Canon Pixma MX7600 should be available in the UK in April 2008 and should be pitched at around £230
