It has been running on empty since March!. I still have Cyan and Yellow and the Drum unit showing empty, but still printing. I have been doing what you do since I had a HP, at least 6 years, and you are right, the cartridge will go on printing for ages, I have had one go on for 2 months! like you i always wait until they really are empty and have saved a fortune.
